Welcome!
Commencing in November 2007 and continuing in February 2008, the Australian Foresight Community is conducting a multi-layered futures festival.
This builds upon the success of the AusForesight2006 conference where professional futurists from across Australia came together for the first time and in strong numbers. At AusForesight2006 we also welcomed some overseas guests and provided an introduction to futurist activities for about 60 interested individuals.
Now, Professional futurists, business and government leaders and the general community will be united during the forthcoming AusForesight futures festival.
The AusForesight futures festival links together three overlapping events
- Professional Days for the futurist community (November 9-10 2007)
- An Open Day for young people of any age (November 11 2007)
- A futures Workshop for corporate, government and community leaders (February 2008)
Our personal futures and organizational futures are nested within the various potential futures that await Australia. What could they be? What would we prefer? Do we want to open new pathways? If so, how? And why? These are the issues that will be tied together over the course of the forthcoming AusForesight futures festival.
The AusForesight futures festival provides a tangible way of experiencing through practice and discourse proven and evolving foresight approaches, tools and methods. These foresight approaches will be used as we simultaneously explore the vast range of significant issues, threats and opportunities that confront Australia in the coming years.
AusForesight presents a great opportunity for all participants to work through these issues from a personal, organisational and societal perspective.
We invite you to join in a part or all of the AusForesight futures festival where we can
Reflect – on the meaning of foresight in our own lives and in the world we live in
React – to what we learn, sense and feel individually and collectively
Respond – provide commentary and guidance back to the society in which we are nested.
